I've been trying to analyze what it is about this particular type of dough nut that makes it so delectable and I've concluded that it's the shape. The shape provides the perfect ratio of dough to exterior crust – which gives it just the right balance of chewy / soft / crispy texture that makes it so satisfying to eat! Here is the recipe from Cannelle et Vanille. I'm not patient enough to make these today so I'm going to run out to Kensington Market and grab a few!

Another amazing post from Aran's Cannelle et Vanille blog, which I think is one of the best food blogs in the whole blogosphere. It consistently has the most beautiful styling, photography and recipes I have ever seen. I'm not brave enough to attempt such a complex cake as this Dobos torte but it is without a doubt a personal favourite!
